“It’s clear that a communist-style agenda is being implemented — one aimed at removing all possible vehicles of free speech from the public sphere. The attack on freedom of speech is advancing. We will defend Republika, even if it means taking to the streets in the millions. We will not allow it to be destroyed,” said Professor Przemysław Czarnek, a member of the Polish Parliament from the Law and Justice party (PiS), commenting for Niezalezna.pl on the court’s decision regarding Republika TV’s broadcasting license.
The Provincial Administrative Court (WSA) overturned the challenged decision of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) concerning the license for, among others, TV Republika, as well as its resolution from June 21, 2024.
The court’s decision has sparked widespread commentary in the media. Viewers and supporters of Poland’s largest news channel have voiced strong opposition to what they see as a restriction of free speech in the country.
Czarnek: Hands Off Republika!
Niezalezna.pl reached out to Professor Przemysław Czarnek for a comment.
“This is clearly an attack on the realm of free speech and on Republika — the largest news station in Poland and one of the biggest conservative media outlets in the world. It’s obvious that a communist agenda is being pursued — one aimed at erasing all forms of free speech from the public space. The fight against freedom of expression is ongoing. We will stand up for Republika, even if it means taking to the streets by the millions. We will not let it be destroyed. Hands off Republika!”
