The world’s largest conservative conference, CPAC, will be held in Poland, as announced during the “Gazeta Polska Person of the Year” gala. “This demonstrates that TV Republika, Gazeta Polska, Gazeta Polska Codziennie, and other free media in Poland are so compelling that they are attracting the most significant conservative event in the world to Europe—and specifically to Poland,” said MEP Tobiasz Bocheński in an interview with Niezalezna.pl.
During the 2024 Person of the Year Gala, awards were presented by the Free Speech Zone community. The Gazeta Polska Clubs’ Person of the Year was awarded to Karol Nawrocki, the President of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) and a presidential candidate. The Gregory the Great Award, presented by Nowe Państwo, went to President Andrzej Duda. Meanwhile, the Republican Award was given to the CPAC organization.
CPAC in Poland – A Major Development! Zybertowicz and Bocheński Comment
At the gala, Niezależna spoke with Andrzej Zybertowicz. “We can say of the laureates that the most important challenges of their lives are only just beginning. This applies primarily to Karol Nawrocki, but I also believe that Andrzej Duda is facing challenges that may surprise him—and I hope that our laureate and friend from America will likewise be able to achieve things that history will require of him,” said Zybertowicz, an advisor to President Andrzej Duda.
We also inquired about the announcement of the CPAC conference in Poland. “This could be a new lever for revitalizing the impetus to defend Latin civilization,” Zybertowicz remarked.
Another guest at the gala, MEP Tobiasz Bocheński (Law and Justice party, PiS), emphasized the significance of the day’s events:
“This is a doubly important event—on the one hand, it reaches into the past, and on the other, it looks toward the future. It reaches into history because it honours individuals for their activity over the past year, and in the case of President Duda, over the span of ten years,”
he noted.
He continued: “But also, awarding CPAC and announcing that it will be held in Poland is an incredibly significant development. It shows that TV Republika, Gazeta Polska, Gazeta Polska Codziennie, and other free media in Poland are so attractive that they are drawing the most important conservative event in the world to Europe—and to Poland, specifically. Conservatives from Italy, Sweden, France—they will envy us in the coming months,” Bocheński added.
We asked whether the CPAC conference might give Poland the opportunity to become a leader of the conservative world in our region.
“We do have a chance! This event will ensure that the eyes of conservatives from all over Europe will be fixed on Poland. That is very important because we must shape the right views on European integration, transatlantic ties, and the proper perspective on Putin’s Russia. All of this is crucial, and it is we, Poles—together with the Americans—who will be able to shape conservative opinion on these issues,”
Bocheński responded.
The MEP also noted that the award for Karol Nawrocki, in recognition of his commitment and prior work, “is a good sign ahead of the upcoming elections.”
