CPK Tender Goes Abroad: Dutch Vanderlande Profits, Polish Firm Left Out

The tender announced by the Central Communication Port (CPK), worth over 100 million euros, has just been won by the Dutch company Vanderlande. The project could have been taken on by the Polish firm Dimark, which services the world’s largest airports. “This is Tusk’s idea of repolonization!” wrote former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on X.

“CPK HAS AWARDED THE TENDER FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BAGGAGE HANDLING SYSTEM,” the company announced in a Monday statement. The winning bidder was a consortium of Vanderlande Logistics GmbH and Vanderlande Logistics, Unipessoal Lda.

The project will involve designing, delivering, assembling, commissioning, operating, and maintaining the Baggage Handling System at CPK Airport.

According to the company, the foreign consortium offered a net price of €115 million for the delivery and installation of the BHS, while the maintenance and servicing of the core part of the system will cost PLN 97 million, with an additional PLN 93 million if the contract is extended.

Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki warns that vast sums could have gone to a domestic company.

“We have a Polish firm that works all over the world, but the government prefers to let foreign corporations earn money! This is Tusk’s idea of repolonization!”

he accuses his opponents, pointing to the impressive track record of the Polish company Dimark.
The baggage handling system will occupy approximately 80,000 square meters of the passenger terminal building. The estimated length of the conveyor belts transporting baggage is over 16 km. The BHS for CPK Airport will be based on ICS (Individual Carrier System) technology, which involves transporting luggage in containers. According to the company, this allows for full tracking and sorting of baggage, reduces the risk of damage, and enables modular expansion depending on the pace of air traffic growth and the needs of the developing terminal.
