Judge Piotr Gąciarek, a member of the politicised judges’ association “Iustitia,” shared his idea on TVN24 for how to deal with the National Council of the Judiciary (Krajowa Rada Sądownictwa, KRS). “Cut them off from the IT system, stop paying, and close the building,” he declared. “Another public official encouraging lawbreaking,” commented Judge Kamila Borszowska-Moszowska.
Will there be an attack on the KRS?
The portal Niezalezna.pl recently reported that a physical attempt to seize the National Council of the Judiciary and an intrusion by security services may occur. These reports gained traction, especially after the newly appointed Minister of Justice, Waldemar Żurek, declared in his inaugural address: “We do not have a functioning KRS today.”
“I would like to warn those politicians who, in various statements, threaten independent judges and prosecutors and attempt to intimidate them. We no longer have a KRS that could provide constitutional protection for such individuals, which is why I will respond to such actions with full determination. I appeal to those issuing such threats, they will not go unpunished,” Żurek stated.
It is not out of the question that a pretext for an attack could be the intent to forcibly take over the office of the Disciplinary Officer for Common Court Judges, which operates within the KRS premises.
Gąciarek: “Stop paying and close the building”
Yesterday, Judge Piotr Gąciarek from the politicised judges’ association “Iustitia” addressed ideas regarding a possible attack on the KRS.
“Cut them off from the IT system, stop paying, and close the building. It’s very simple,” he stated.
A TVN reporter followed up: “So, not legal solutions, but technical ones? Maybe also cut off their electricity and water?”
Judge Kamila Borszowska-Moszowska responded to Gąciarek’s words:
“Judge Piotr Gąciarek from Iustitia says what should be done with the KRS, i.e. ‘cut off the IT system, stop paying, and close the building’! Even the journalist notes that these are technical, not legal, solutions. Another public official is encouraging the violation of the law,” she remarked.
