Czarzasty publicly lied about TV Republika. Journalists outraged

“At no point did we ask questions in a way that would suggest Monika Wielichowska’s involvement or co-involvement in the zoophilia-pedophilia scandal,” Daniel Śmieciński told Niezalezna.pl. “We did not delve into threads concerning the trial itself in which Kamila L. was convicted,” added Michał Gwardyński. During a public meeting, Włodzimierz Czarzasty suggested that TV Republika journalists had asked different questions. “The basic question is this…” said the Speaker of the Sejm.

During one of the public meetings, Speaker of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty explained to a student audience why he does not speak to TV Republika. However, his justification contained numerous falsehoods and accusations directed at journalists.

“There was, you know, a scandal involving zoophilia and terrible things that happened in Lower Silesia. The man got 25 years, the woman got 7. Since these people… that woman was in Civic Platform, there was a situation where in that district where the deputy speaker was – well, she knew her,” Czarzasty said.

Already in these few sentences addressed to the audience, there was misinformation. Kamila L. was non-finally sentenced to 6.5 years in prison. The prosecutor had requested an 18-year sentence. An appeal can only be filed after the written justification of the court’s decision is prepared, which is expected on April 30.

At the same time, the Speaker confirmed that Monika Wielichowska knew Kamila L. The politician herself stressed in her statement: “I never had any private contacts with her. I had no professional contacts with her. She was never an assistant, employee, or associate of my parliamentary office.”

Vile insinuations by the Speaker

Czarzasty then claimed that TV Republika journalists formulated their questions to his deputy in a particular way.

“The basic question is this: ‘when you go out with your dog, are you acting as a caretaker or as a partner?’ (…) This is disgusting, you don’t do that,” the Speaker continued.

It is hard to disagree with the last sentence. What is truly outrageous, however, is the lie committed by the Speaker.

Journalists outraged

TV Republika’s camera and microphone are always on when its journalists encounter Deputy Speaker Monika Wielichowska.

Michał Gwardyński and Daniel Śmieciński, asked by Niezalezna.pl, deny that such questions were ever asked by the station’s reporters in the Sejm.

“These are plain lies and defamation. No one, on behalf of TV Republika journalists, asked such questions. We mainly asked whether Deputy Speaker Monika Wielichowska knew Kamila L., and if so, what their relationship was – professional or private. There were also questions about whether she had given her a dog – because such media reports had appeared. At no point did we ask questions in a way that would suggest Monika Wielichowska’s involvement or co-involvement in the zoophilia-pedophilia scandal,” said Daniel Śmieciński. “Our questions mainly concerned political responsibility and political threads in this case. We did not delve into issues related to the trial itself in which Kamila L. was convicted. We asked whether Deputy Speaker Wielichowska had knowledge of the allegations concerning these brutal incidents that took place in Kłodzko,” added Michał Gwardyński.

He added that journalists also directed questions to Speaker Czarzasty himself. They asked why the agenda item concerning the dismissal of Monika Wielichowska from the position of Deputy Speaker of the Sejm had been removed from the proceedings. They received no answer.

They were also defended by Janusz Życzkowski, who has been covering the Kłodzko scandal in Lower Silesia.

“Mr. Speaker Czarzasty, why are you lying so blatantly? No one ever asked Monika Wielichowska such questions. No one suggested her involvement in crimes. What you are doing, misleading these young people about the essence of the problem, is simply vile,” he wrote on X.
