Wojciech Czuchnowski was deeply troubled by the presence of Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz during the meeting of Presidents Karol Nawrocki and Donald Trump at the White House. To the question, “what does it mean?”, an unexpected answer came from Michał Rachoń. “I’m glad I could help,” quipped the program director of Telewizja Republika.
President Karol Nawrocki’s first foreign visit to Washington stung the politicians of the ruling coalition and their allied media. Just a few days after the president’s return to the country—and after a series of other visits in Europe—the White House talks became a pretext for yet another attack. This time, Gazeta Wyborcza focused on one of Nawrocki’s associates.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms: these were secret talks. What does Cenckiewicz’s presence at the meeting with Trump mean?”—asked Wojciech Czuchnowski on Gazeta Wyborcza’s website.
The entire text is built on a false narrative portraying the head of the National Security Bureau, Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, as someone allegedly deprived of access to classified information. Yet—as presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz replied to Czuchnowski—“Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz holds a valid security clearance.”
To the question posed by Czuchnowski, Telewizja Republika’s program director Michał Rachoń responded:
“It means a signal to Stróżyka, Dusza, and their media henchmen that he has access to classified information at the highest level,” the journalist replied.
“I’m glad I could help,” he added.
