A local councilwoman from Stronie Śląskie, Natalia Skierkowska, has expressed concerns about the official reports of casualties following the devastating 2024 flood that struck the town. Speaking on Polsat News, Skierkowska revealed alarming information about potential missing persons, contradicting the official numbers.
According to Skierkowska, three weddings took place in Stronie Śląskie on Saturday, with many tourists in attendance. However, families are now unable to reach their loved ones, and there is no clear information about whether these individuals were evacuated. “There was no registry of evacuees,” she stated, raising doubts about the actual scale of the disaster.
Despite official reports claiming only one fatality and no missing persons, Skierkowska said she has received information suggesting that approximately 100 people are unaccounted for. The councilwoman’s comments cast doubt on the accuracy of the current official casualty figures, and her statements have prompted concerns about the handling of the crisis response.
Stronie Śląskie remains one of the hardest-hit towns in the 2024 flood, with locals still searching for clarity amid the ongoing disaster.
