David Godziek etched his name into the annals of mountain biking history on Saturday by becoming just the third rider ever to secure the Crankworx Triple Crown of Slopestyle. This prestigious $25,000 award is given to those who can claim victory in three Crankworx Slopestyle events within a single year. Following in the footsteps of Nicolai Rogatkin in 2018 and Emil Johansson’s era of dominance, Godziek now joins this elite group of riders.
A Dramatic Red Bull Joyride
The Polish rider achieved his first Red Bull Joyride win in spectacular fashion. After the first runs, French rider Timothé Bringer held a commanding lead. However, Godziek’s near-flawless initial run was abruptly cut short by a crash on the final jump, putting immense pressure on his second attempt. Rising to the occasion, Godziek executed a perfect run from start to finish, leaving the crowd in awe.
Bringer, determined to reclaim his lead, took to the course once more but unfortunately crashed on a smaller technical move on the large on-off wood feature. This mishap handed the victory to Godziek, cementing his win and his place in history. Bringer’s impressive first run still secured him second place, while Max Fredriksson narrowly edged out Erik Fedko for third.
Notably absent from the final competition was Emil Johansson, who suffered a crash during morning practice and was unable to compete in Saturday’s Red Bull Joyride. His absence, however, did not overshadow the incredible performance and well-deserved victory of David Godziek.
