Dawid Godziek made history at the Red Bull Roof Ride in Katowice. Defending his championship title, he became the first rider in the world to successfully perform a cashroll trick from a 16-meter drop. The competition brought together top-ranked FMB athletes for the UCI Mountain Bike Slopestyle World Cup rankings.
Unforgettable Challenges on a Radical Course
The course in Katowice featured seven challenging obstacles, including a 16-meter drop and a jump with a 13-meter gap. Thousands of spectators witnessed the riders starting from the roof of the International Conference Center and finishing in front of the cheering crowd.
After intense qualifiers, 12 riders advanced to the finals, including local heroes Dawid and Szymon Godziek. The thrilling final saw Jake Atkinson take the highest score of 89.50 points, but it was Godziek who stole the show, fueled by the support of his hometown crowd.
Godziek’s victory was both a defense of his previous gold medal and a historic moment as he executed the cashroll trick flawlessly. Jake Atkinson and Chance Moore joined him on the podium, while Szymon Godziek finished in fourth place.
In an interview, Godziek expressed his joy and the pressure he faced. He stated that the local community’s support motivated him to perform the world-first cashroll trick during his final run.
