In connection with the unprecedented event taking place today in the Sejm, the Gazeta Polska Clubs and the Border Defense Movement gathered in front of the Sejm building to protest against violations of the law and the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. “This circus that is about to unfold here – unfortunately is not funny. This cabaret that will be staged in the Column Hall in half an hour is, unfortunately, not funny for the Polish nation. It is a threat to our homeland. It is a threat to our freedom”, warned Adam Borowski, head of the Warsaw “Gazeta Polska” Club and a legendary anti-communist opposition activist.

Four judges of the Constitutional Tribunal elected in March (Krystian Markiewicz, Maciej Taborowski, Marcin Dziurda and Anna Korwin-Piotrowska) sent letters to President Karol Nawrocki, inviting him to the Sejm at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday to take their oaths before him. If the oath-taking takes place in the parliament building without the president, it would – put plainly – amount to a constitutional coup.
The event – which has no legal force – is scheduled to begin after 12:00 p.m. in the Sejm’s Column Hall.
In connection with this unprecedented development, the Gazeta Polska Clubs and the Border Defense Movement called on Poles to express their opposition to violations of the law and the Constitution.
Since the morning hours, demonstrators have been gathering in front of the Sejm building.
Protesters are carrying banners reading “Caste enough, down with communism”, “The red marshal and Tusk’s government will stand trial”, “The Constitutional Tribunal and President Karol Nawrocki are the pillars of democracy”, “Stop Tusk’s lawlessness”.
Borowski: “You will be held accountable for what you are doing!”
During the demonstration, Adam Borowski – head of the Warsaw “Gazeta Polska” Club and a legendary anti-communist opposition activist – took the floor.
“The President said he would not appoint judges who question the constitutional order. And these four have been questioning that constitutional order for months, for years. And the President will do very well not to appoint them – because they are not worthy of this office. If they take this oath, it means they do not respect the Polish Constitution. They do not respect Polish law. They want this ‘militant democracy’ – or rather a ‘growling’ one. We will not allow this. We will be in the streets, we will protest. This government is losing ground beneath its feet. They cannot govern, they do not know how to govern”, he said in front of the Sejm building.
He continued: “There is a catastrophe in healthcare. There is a catastrophe in all areas of life. And they need spectacles. Today they are providing those spectacles”.
“This circus that is about to unfold here – unfortunately is not funny. This cabaret that will be staged in the Column Hall in half an hour is, unfortunately, not funny for the Polish nation. It is a threat to our homeland. It is a threat to our freedom. It is a threat to our law. This is a direct violation of the Constitution. This is a coup d’état! That is why I want to say once again: you will be held accountable for what you are doing. Red marshal, communist, you will pay for your actions, for your arrogance, for your insolence, for breaking the Constitution”, he called out.
