“The person responsible for what has been happening in Warsaw and what is happening in Warsaw is the Mayor of the city, Rafał Trzaskowski,” says Mariusz Błaszczak. According to the Law and Justice (PiS) politician, it is the Mayor of Warsaw himself – not his two deputies – who should resign.
On Friday, Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski announced that his two deputy mayors, Renata Kaznowska and Aldona Machnowska-Góra, had resigned from their positions, and that he had accepted their resignations. The decision follows media reports concerning alleged irregularities at the South Warsaw Hospital.
The latest media reports also indicate that the whistleblower who exposed irregularities at Warsaw’s Municipal Roads Authority (ZDM) was not only dismissed from his job but also allegedly betrayed by the city authorities. The news portal zero.pl reported today that it possesses evidence challenging the explanations provided by Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski and city officials.
Asked about the situation in the capital, the head of the Law and Justice (PiS) parliamentary caucus commented:
“The person responsible for what has been happening in Warsaw and what is happening in Warsaw is the Mayor of the city, Rafał Trzaskowski. He is. Yes, he is the Mayor, because if he shifts the responsibility onto the women who served as his deputies, then what does that mean? That he wasn’t running Warsaw? That he isn’t running Warsaw? What does he actually do? Does he do anything at all?”
Błaszczak said in an interview with RMF FM.
“I think the proper course of action would be for him to resign, because he has been governing the city poorly,” the Law and Justice (PiS) politician added.
