    Diakonia Poland Honors Samaritans for Charity Work

    The Pommerscher Diakonieverein and Bożena Polak have been recognized with this year’s “Good Samaritan” Award by Diakonia Polska, the charity arm of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland. The awards were presented during the ecumenical Ubi Caritas Gala.


    The Pommerscher Diakonieverein, a non-profit organization from northern Germany, was honored for its work in supporting socially excluded individuals. They collaborate with Polish parishes in Koszalin, Słupsk, and Szczecin, and have actively engaged in various social projects, including aid for seniors and migrants.

    Bożena Polak, a long-time diakonia advocate, received the award for her dedication to charitable work in Katowice, including the establishment of the “Słoneczna Kraina” Diakonia Center and the “Jesteśmy dla Was” Foundation, providing assistance to various vulnerable groups.

    Agnieszka Typiak, a humanitarian aid coordinator in Nadarzyn, was recognized for her professionalism and support for refugees.

    Special recognition was given to the “Mosty” Group, volunteers from the Evangelical-Augsburg Parishes in Syców and Wrocław, who have shown remarkable courage and compassion, aiding families in Ukraine during the conflict.

    The awards were presented at the Ubi Caritas Gala in Warsaw, along with prizes from Caritas Polska and Eleos, reaffirming the commitment of various religious organizations to charitable work.
