U.S. President Donald Trump has issued an ultimatum to Iran to unblock the Strait of Hormuz or reach an agreement. Tehran has 48 hours remaining. “Otherwise, hell will break loose there,” Trump said on the Truth Social platform.
“Do you remember when I gave Iran ten days to reach an agreement or open the Strait of Hormuz? Time is running out – 48 hours before hell breaks loose there”, the American leader wrote.
On March 26, Trump announced that he was postponing attacks on Iranian power plants for 10 days, until Monday, April 6, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time (2:00 a.m. on April 7 in Poland).
Conflict with Iran
The United States and Israel began bombing Iran on February 28, to which Iran has responded with attacks on Israel, U.S. bases in the Middle East, and countries in the Persian Gulf.
Iran has also led to the near-total blockade of the Strait of Hormuz – a key route for oil and gas exports from the region – which has caused a sharp rise in global prices of these commodities.
