Donald Tusk Torpedoed the Museum of Remembrance for Victims of the Volhynia Massacre: “Poland Will Not Forget This”

The Museum of Remembrance for the Victims of the Volhynia Massacre and the Lech Kaczyński Centre for Truth and Reconciliation in Chełm are entering the implementation phase. The project commemorating Polish victims will come to fruition, even though Donald Tusk withdrew the funds previously allocated for this purpose during the United Right’s rule.

A few days ago, Mariusz Błaszczak, head of the PiS parliamentary club, stated that the initiative to establish the Museum of Remembrance for the Victims of the Volhynia Massacre and the Lech Kaczyński Centre for Truth and Reconciliation in Chełm, undertaken during PiS governance, is now moving into the realisation stage.

Meanwhile, Jacek Sasin reminded the public via social media that the current Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, had previously torpedoed this project by revoking funds that had already been granted.

Tusk’s Failed Plan

Tusk withdrew the funds allocated to this project by the PiS government, claiming it was a “premature and ill-conceived” initiative. He had hoped, by doing so, to thwart plans to spread the truth about the genocide in Volhynia and to commemorate its victims. He seems more willing to accept the falsehood of “Polish Nazis who built death camps.”

“Thanks to the tremendous determination of Mayor Jakub Banaszek and everyone who supports him, that attempt has failed,” Sasin noted on X.
