Dr Karol Nawrocki says farewell to the Institute of National Remembrance: “Our mission to the Republic of Poland is not over”

The President of the IPN is becoming the President of Poland, but he leaves the state in the capable hands of his excellent deputies: Professor Karol Polejowski, Dr Mateusz Szpytma, and Professor Krzysztof Szwagrzyk. “I ask that you continue your mission. You love Poland, you love Polish history, and I am convinced that the IPN will continue to develop in the right direction,” said Dr Karol Nawrocki, President-elect and President of the Institute of National Remembrance.

Today, Dr Karol Nawrocki took part in the multimedia presentation of the exhibition “Trails of Hope. The Odyssey of Freedom”, organized by the Institute of National Remembrance. As President of the IPN, he used this occasion to say goodbye to the Institute’s staff.

“I am leaving the institution only because, by the will of the voters, tomorrow I will become the President of the Republic of Poland. I am leaving an institution that I greatly value and that must endure – it must endure because it fulfills its duties for the Republic of Poland. (…) I stand before you with a sense of a mission accomplished,” said the President-elect.

He added that in recent years, during Nawrocki’s tenure, and over the 25 years of the IPN‘s existence, “we have truly achieved a lot and fulfilled our mission to the Republic of Poland.”

“That mission is not over. The President of the IPN becomes the President of Poland, but he leaves the state in the capable hands of his excellent deputies: Professor Karol Polejowski, Dr Mateusz Szpytma, and Professor Krzysztof Szwagrzyk. I ask that you continue your mission. You love Poland, you love Polish history, and I am convinced that the IPN will continue to develop in the right direction. To all IPN employees – thank you for what you do for the Republic of Poland. And as President, I promise I will support the IPN, because it is in the national interest of the Polish state, and I will never allow the Institute of National Remembrance to be dissolved,” said Karol Nawrocki.

“Long live Polish history, long live Poland. May God bless Poland,” he added.
