E.ON Polska Commences Construction of its First Biogas Plant in Poland

E.ON Polska is gearing up for the launch of its debut biogas facility in Poland, scheduled for 2024. Located near Pułtusk, the plant will generate 1 MWe in high-efficiency cogeneration, aligning with E.ON’s strategy for active involvement in energy transformation and aiding customers in reducing their carbon footprint.

Recognizing the untapped potential of biogas in Poland, E.ON Polska, drawing on the extensive experience of the E.ON Group, initiates its inaugural investment. Artur Stawiarski, Director of Strategy and Development at E.ON Polska, highlights their commitment to green energy and diversifying renewable sources.

Partnering with Biowatt SA, a leading domestic contractor, E.ON Polska aims to expand the biogas market. The partnership includes overseeing an agricultural biogas plant’s operations for the initial two years.

The biogas plant signifies a significant stride towards sustainable urban, rural, and industrial landscapes. Jakub Roszkiewicz, CEO of E.ON Polska Solutions, envisions a carbon-neutral future, with the plant poised to supply green energy to the grid by 2024.

Operating independently of weather conditions, the plant’s annual operation of 8,000 hours will generate 8 GWh of green energy, catering to small-scale industrial needs. E.ON Polska plans to adhere to closed-loop economy principles by utilizing biomass substrates and distributing post-fermentation material as fertilizer locally.

With construction already underway, the facility is slated for completion and energy production commencement by the end of 2024.
