Szymon Marciniak, who recently officiated the Euro 2024 Round of 16 match where Switzerland triumphed over Italy 2-0, is set to participate in another pivotal game of the tournament. The Polish referee has already overseen two matches in this year’s championship: the Belgium vs. Romania group stage match (2-0) and the Switzerland vs. Italy clash in the knockout stage.
For the upcoming quarterfinal showdown between Portugal and France, Marciniak will assume the role of the fourth official. The match will be officiated by English referee Michael Oliver. It remains uncertain whether Marciniak will return to the pitch as the main referee for any more fixtures in Euro 2024.
