On Thursday morning, the European Parliament in Strasbourg will conduct a debate on the intrusion of Russian drones into Poland. The request was made by MEPs from both Civic Platform (PO) and Law and Justice (PiS). “It doesn’t matter which request came first, because what matters most now is Poland’s security,” commented PiS MEP Patryk Jaki.
The debate will begin at 8:30 a.m. today – the last day of the four-day plenary session in Strasbourg.
“At the request of the European People’s Party (EPP) and the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), the European Parliament is amending the agenda of the plenary session to hold a special debate on solidarity with Poland following the deliberate violation of its airspace by Russian drones,” the EPP announced on its X platform account.
The urgent debate was requested on Wednesday by Andrzej Halicki (PO) and Patryk Jaki (PiS). Both politicians informed the media that they had submitted motions on the matter.
Halicki told journalists in the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Wednesday that such a debate would take place provided other groups agreed.
“It seems to me that, given the extraordinary nature of the situation that occurred overnight and today, we should once again give Polish MEPs the chance to fight for the country’s security,” stressed the PO MEP.
“It doesn’t matter which request came first. What matters most now is Poland’s security,” added Patryk Jaki.
