    European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Azerbaijan: Emilia Heichel breaks 11-year Polish soloist drought with a spot in the finals

    European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan: As a representative of SGA Krakow, Emilia Heichel advanced to the final at the European Championships in all-around gymnastics. This achievement marks the first time in 11 years that a Polish soloist has reached this stage of the prestigious event.


    The competition in Baku kicked off on Thursday with the qualification rounds featuring routines with the hoop and the ball. Heichel claimed the 21st position in the ball routine and placed 24th in the hoop exercise. The following day, Heichel showcased her skills in routines with clubs and ribbons. It was in the clubs routine that Heichel truly excelled, securing a commendable 13th-place finish. In the ribbon routine, she placed 32nd.

    In the all-around classification, the top three performances are taken into account. With a total score of 86.600 points, the reigning Polish champion claimed the 19th position in the all-around qualification. This achievement represents the best individual result for Polish representatives at the European Championships since 2012 when Joanna Mitrosz secured 7th place in the finals held in Nizhny Novgorod.

    With her exceptional performance, Emilia Heichel has now earned her place in the highly anticipated final on Saturday, where she will compete against the top 24 gymnasts in Europe. The determined athlete aims to secure the best possible placement and further elevate Polish gymnastics on the international stage.
