“Even the officer sensed the absurdity.” TV Republika journalist Monika Borkowska speaks out after interrogation: “Someone’s searching nervously and blindly”

“I had the impression that even the officer reading the questions felt the absurdity of the situation,” said Monika Borkowska, a journalist from Telewizja Republika. Borkowska received a summons for questioning on Wednesday. The management of the Strefa Wolnego Słowa media group believes that the authorities’ actions are linked to Republica’s reporting critical of the government.

On Wednesday, Tomasz Sakiewicz, president of Telewizja Republika, reported that police officers had come to journalist Monika Borkowska’s home to deliver a summons for questioning. He assessed that the authorities’ actions were related to the “activities of the station’s leadership.” According to Borkowska’s post today, she was questioned on Thursday.

“Reporting that I’m alive. I’m already done. I had the impression that even the officer reading the questions felt the absurdity of the situation,” she wrote on the platform X (formerly Twitter).

She added that she could not say more, although she had the impression that “someone is searching nervously and blindly.”

It is worth noting that Jarosław Olechowski, head of producers at Telewizja Republika, also commented yesterday on the authorities’ actions toward journalists.

“Donald Tusk’s prosecution office is summoning for questioning journalists from Republika, as well as former TVP and TAI employees — even secretaries and drivers,” he wrote, adding that investigators were also asking about him personally.

He described the prosecutors’ activities as a “circus,” explaining that investigators ask questions such as:

“Do you know Olechowski, and what can you say about him?”

“So far, they’ve found nothing, so the desperation of investigators acting on political orders is growing: ‘Get Olechowski,’” he concluded.
