Expert on intelligence services leaves no doubt: Czuchnowski pointed to the source of the leak himself

Wojciech Czuchnowski, in his article concerning the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), Sławomir Cenckiewicz, pointed to the source of the leak himself, claims Colonel Artur Hejne, a retired officer of the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW). In his view, this follows directly from the content of the article and is obvious to those familiar with how intelligence services operate.

Gazeta Wyborcza journalist, Wojciech Czuchnowski, published an article today targeting the head of the National Security Bureau, Sławomir Cenckiewicz, in which he referred to an “anonymous source.” The publication disclosed strictly classified, sensitive medical data taken from a security questionnaire.

Who was this source? The answer to that question was provided by someone who knows the specifics of intelligence services very well.

Col. Hejne: Czuchnowski himself identified the source of the leak

“Mr. Czuchnowski’s lack of knowledge about the rules governing vetting procedures led him to identify the source of the leak in his own article,” said Col. Artur Hejne, a retired officer of the Military Counterintelligence Service, speaking on TV Republika.

“Czuchnowski did not know that, as part of a follow-up vetting procedure, a personal security questionnaire is not filled out. As we reported moments ago, he wrote that in October an informant came to the Gazeta Wyborcza newsroom who had access to and knew the details of the personal security questionnaire. This means that the informant could not have been any court official, nor any official of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, where an appeal is submitted, because the personal security questionnaire was completed by Prof. Cenckiewicz several years ago. Once completed, the questionnaire is classified as ‘confidential’ and is stored in a separate archive of the Military Counterintelligence Service. Not even the director of the service’s general archive has access to this file,” Col. Hejne explained, adding: “Therefore, if Editor Czuchnowski wrote the truth—and we cannot assume that he lied—the source of the leak is within the SKW.”

“Because access to the questionnaire is limited to officers of the Military Counterintelligence Service. As part of a follow-up vetting procedure, such a questionnaire does not exist; it is not sent to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister as part of an appeal, nor does it go to a court as part of a complaint,” Hejne уточ clarified.
