Poland has become a primary destination for a significant majority of previously damaged used vehicles, with the largest share imported from the USA, Belgium, and Germany, according to a report in “Rzeczpospolita.”
The newspaper highlights that over 95% of the used cars imported into Poland from the USA in 2024 had a history of accidents or collisions. This data, provided by carVertical, a firm that offers vehicle history information, underscores the high risks associated with these imports.
“Rzeczpospolita” notes that among the five most crucial markets for private Polish importers, vehicles from the American market prove to be the most hazardous. From January to August 2024, a staggering 95 out of every 100 cars imported from the US were noted to have sustained some damages in their past.
Matas Buzelis, an automotive expert at carVertical, pointed out the alarming frequency of these incidents. The situation is not much better with imports from Belgium, the third-largest source of supply for auto dealerships and online services, where nearly 93% of vehicles are damaged. The article also mentions that over 89% of cars imported from Germany, which accounts for more than half of the second-hand cars entering Poland, have a history of accidents.
Marcel Rotzoll from Carfax Europe emphasized the trend, stating, “Poland is one of those European markets where a significant majority of damaged cars end up.”
