The prosecution has discontinued the proceedings related to the assault on Law and Justice (PiS) MP Joanna Borowiak during the forceful takeover of the Telewizja Polska (TVP) building. Informing about the decision, the politician emphasized that, following the incident, a doctor confirmed permanent damage to her arm. “This is how a state governed by Donald Tusk operates. An absolute scandal!” she said.
In December 2023, one week after the swearing-in of Donald Tusk’s government, a forceful takeover of Telewizja Polska took place. “Strongmen” entered the headquarters on Woronicza Street and unlawfully seized the office of the TVP president, Mateusz Matyszkowicz. Acts of violence were committed.
Joanna Borowiak was attacked. “When a group of MPs attempted to enter on a parliamentary intervention, a certain strong man blocked our access to the TVP president’s secretariat. He brutally yanked MPs around. I was on the front line and was crushed by a door. By a miracle, I did not break my arm,” she recounted after the incident.
As reported by the Niezalezna.pl portal, the PiS MP was assaulted by the head of TVP’s Security Office. An ambulance and the police were called to the scene. At the end of December, the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation into a possible violation of Borowiak’s bodily integrity. After two years, a surprising decision has been made.
“An Absolute Scandal”
“During the intervention at TVP at 20 Woronicza Street on December 20, 2023, I was assaulted—as a Member of the Polish Parliament and as a woman. A doctor has confirmed permanent damage to my arm. Today, the prosecutor issued a decision to discontinue the proceeding – finding no crime and no elements of a prohibited act,” Borowiak wrote on Monday on the X platform.
The PiS MP added: “This is how a state governed by Donald Tusk operates. An absolute scandal!”
