Former deputy editor-in-chief of Gazeta Wyborcza insults President Nawrocki in Ukrainian media. Scandalous words

Former deputy editor-in-chief of Gazeta Wyborcza, Jerzy Wójcik, in an interview with Ukrainian media, insults the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, directly calling him an “idiot.” The extensive interview also includes themes that polarize Polish society and aim to create the impression that Ukraine is currently supported in Poland only by the voters of Tusk and Trzaskowski.

Ukraine, and especially the capital – Kyiv, is facing a huge problem with shortages of heating, energy, and water, which is a direct result of Russia’s attacks on critical infrastructure, including energy facilities.

Poles have rushed to help their neighbors, organizing collections of funds and equipment. One such initiative – “Warmth from Poland” – is led by Jerzy B. Wójcik, former deputy editor-in-chief of “Gazeta Wyborcza.”

Wójcik insults the President of the Republic of Poland

Wójcik gave an interview to the Ukrainian portal nv.ua, and it was not limited solely to the aid campaign. The former deputy head of the newsroom on Czerska Street used the opportunity to attack the Polish president, Karol Nawrocki, directly insulting the head of state.

“I don’t like President Nawrocki, I think he ruins everything. Honestly, he’s an idiot. He continues this game: Trump, the Peace Council, and members of Law and Justice (PiS) who support this campaign,” reads Wójcik’s statement in the interview with nv.ua.

Wójcik called Law and Justice (PiS) MP Michał Dworczyk, who has been involved in helping Ukraine for many years, “far-right and anti-Ukrainian.” He argued that the campaign initiated by Dworczyk “will be a cure for the demons of nationalism and political cynicism.”

Who supports Ukraine?

In the further part of the interview, he polarizes Polish society and claims that Ukrainians are supported in Poland “by liberal, democratic, pro-Ukrainian segments of society, defenders of human rights.”

“That’s about 10-12 million, maybe more, but we shouldn’t be overly optimistic. These are voters of Trzaskowski, Tusk, and so on. In two years there will be elections, and if we don’t stop these right-wing nationalists, semi-fascists, Confederation, Braun, and Nawrocki, they will rule,” Wójcik told Ukrainian media.

Asked why “some Poles have a negative attitude toward Ukrainians,” he stated that it is the result of “jealousy.”

“People can sometimes be stupid. A certain percentage of Poles are real idiots. They behave like idiots, and this is against their own interests. They are puppets of propaganda and politicians,” said Jerzy Wójcik.

Jerzy B. Wójcik has been associated with “Gazeta Wyborcza” since 1993, initially with its local edition in Gorzów Wielkopolski. There he established cooperation with German circles and was a co-founder of the Polish-German Journalists’ Club “Under the Stereotypes.” In 2001, he joined the central newsroom, headed the daily “Metro,” and later “Nowy Dzień.” From 2011 he served as deputy editor-in-chief of Gazeta Wyborcza, and from 2016 as publisher. In 2021, he was dismissed by Agora’s management.
