Froelich Condemns Calls for Anti-Right Demonstrations as SPD Rises in Polls

The most recent opinion poll ahead of the German federal elections indicates a shift in voter sentiment following heated debates on tightening migration policy. The poll, conducted after the tragic knife attack in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria, shows a three-point rise in support for the Social Democratic Party (SPD), while the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) has dropped by one point.

According to reports, an Afghan national was involved in a stabbing incident in Aschaffenburg that resulted in the death of a two-year-old child. The crime has sparked national debate on Germany’s approach to migration and has thrust political parties to clarify their positions on border control and asylum policies.

Tomasz Froelich, a German AfD Member of the European Parliament of Polish descent, responded to public demonstrations against right-wing groups—protests spearheaded by the Green Party (Die Grünen) and the SPD. In a statement, Froelich criticized these demonstrations, arguing that they show a profound misunderstanding of the issue at hand:

“Anyone who, just days after an Afghan man in Aschaffenburg murdered a two-year-old child, calls for demonstrations against the right—like the Greens and the SPD—has understood nothing. It should be revolting to anyone with even minimal moral instincts.”

Froelich also noted a recent development in the Bundestag, where, according to him, the so-called “cordon sanitaire” against the AfD was broken for the first time. He claims that the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) will not be able to fulfill its promises on restricting migration without the AfD’s support:

“Without the AfD, the CDU will not be able to implement any of its pledges to limit migration. For Germany, that would be a disaster.”

German voters are set to head to the polls on February 23, with the migration debate playing a prominent role in campaign platforms. This Saturday, February 8, the news portal tvrepublika.pl is scheduled to publish an exclusive interview with Froelich. He is expected to discuss, among other issues, what he calls the “pro-German” stances of the CDU and SPD, as well as the broader strategies that European patriots could adopt to safeguard Europe’s future.
