President Karol Nawrocki surprised those gathered in front of the Belweder Palace today. First, he appeared in a window and announced that he would be coming down shortly, and then he went out to meet the people – with a gift in hand!
On Wednesday, Karol Nawrocki took the oath before the National Assembly and formally assumed the office of President of the Republic of Poland. He also delivered his first address. At noon, a Mass was held at St. John the Baptist Archcathedral for the homeland and the president. Later, during a ceremony at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Karol Nawrocki assumed the symbolic patronage of the Order of the White Eagle and the Order of Polonia Restituta. Yesterday, he made his first official visit – to Kalisz – where he signed his own bill on the Central Communication Port and sent it to the Sejm.
From the window to the crowd…
Today, people gathered in front of the Belweder could hardly believe their eyes when suddenly a window opened, and there appeared… Karol Nawrocki. Wearing a sleeveless T-shirt, the president gave an “OK” hand sign and said he would be down in half an hour. He kept his promise, and thirty minutes later, those waiting by the gate saw the president, accompanied by security, coming out to meet them. He also brought a gift – his book.
It’s not the first such gesture from Nawrocki. On the way back from his swearing-in, the president ordered his motorcade to stop and got out to greet people waving flags along the street.
