PLN 9 złoty per liter of diesel, this is the reality at the end of March 2026. Drivers are sharing photos of fuel prices on online forums and keeping an eye out for bargains. For now, however, prices are only going up from one day to the next.
Fuel prices have soared to levels not seen on the markets for years. Drivers at gas stations are already facing exorbitant prices, which does not mean they won’t rise even further.
Day by day, the signs at gas stations display increasingly higher amounts per liter of fuel. Diesel has seen the sharpest increase. Across Poland, it already costs well over PLN 8 per liter, and there is no indication that it will become cheaper.
The first photos are appearing online as proof that diesel is reaching the level of PLN 9 per liter. Such a price was recorded at one of the gas stations in Sandomierz.
The situation is no better in northern Poland. The head of the president’s political office, Paweł Szefernaker, shared the price of diesel on Sunday afternoon.
“When fuel prices are high, it is not enough to talk; we must act. Today, instead of responsible government decisions, we are witnessing a festival of distraction from the real problems faced by Poles,”
reads the post, illustrated with a diesel price of PLN 8.99 per liter.
In the face of record price increases, the Polish government remains passive. High fuel prices may prompt those in power to intervene, but not immediately. This was recently stated on TVN24 by Finance Minister Andrzej Domański.
“The government is analyzing the situation on fuel markets. If high prices persist, fuel taxes may be reduced, but over a period of months, not days,”
he admitted.
