Following the ruling of the Supreme Administrative Court (NSA) in the case of Sławomir Cenckiewicz, head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), which marks a defeat for Donald Tusk, an intense debate has erupted online. Internet users are blunt: it’s over.
On Wednesday, the Supreme Administrative Court dismissed the cassation appeals filed by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister against earlier rulings of the Voivodeship Administrative Court, which had overturned the revocation of the security clearance of the current BBN chief, Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz. With its decision, the court effectively ended the legal battle, confirming that Prof. Cenckiewicz holds access to classified information.
The ruling coalition appears unwilling to accept the outcome. Despite the clear NSA verdict, Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the minister coordinating special services, seems to maintain a contrary stance. In a video published online, he stated that while “the Supreme Administrative Court’s rulings dismissing the cassation appeals definitively close the administrative court stage of the case concerning the revocation of Sławomir Cenckiewicz’s security clearance,” it allegedly “does not mean that Sławomir Cenckiewicz has automatically regained access to classified information.”
Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz himself responded to the ruling on X, writing: “a complete victory over the regime of lawlessness! Thank you, NSA!”
President Karol Nawrocki also commented on the decision, sharply criticizing the ruling camp and accusing them of resorting to “the most disgraceful methods.”
“Game over”
Social media has seen a flood of reactions to the NSA’s verdict, which is widely interpreted as a defeat for Donald Tusk in his months-long political clash with Prof. Cenckiewicz.
“Game over,” briefly commented the President’s spokesperson, Rafał Leśkiewicz.
Piotr Müller of Law and Justice (PiS) wrote: “A defeat for Donald Tusk’s chancellery! The NSA clearly sides with Sławomir Cenckiewicz, who wins the case regarding access to classified information! And was it really worth creating such a circus, Siemoniak?”
Jan Kanthak (PiS) added: “In this ‘smiling democracy,’ unfortunately, a final court ruling means nothing. Tusk’s enforcers will continue to maintain the fiction that Prof. Cenckiewicz has no access. A crypto-dictatorship? Perhaps something even more. In any case, congratulations to Sławomir Cenckiewicz.”
Investigative journalist Piotr Nisztor commented: “The truth has prevailed! Congratulations, Sławomir Cenckiewicz!”
Joachim Brudziński, MEP for PiS, stated: “Congratulations, Professor! The ‘reset’ advocates with Tusk, Sikorski or Siemoniak, admirers of the Aurora and cooperation between the Military Counterintelligence Service and the FSB, as well as media ‘enforcers’ led by Czuchnowski, have once again proven themselves to be (at best) useful idiots of Putin.”
