Gazeta Polska Clubs Stronger Than Ever – New Wellsprings of Social Activism

If one were to believe what the media of the Third Polish Republic have been saying about the Gazeta Polska clubs for the past twenty years, one might conclude they disappeared long ago, since their formula was labelled archaic the moment they were founded. The recent 20th jubilee—Convention of the GP Clubs proved unmistakably that the organisation is stronger than ever.

And it is not merely that hardly a week goes by without a new club being established. The ranks are swelling, with young and very young people, too. This is also due to the powerful engagement of the “Karol Nawrocki generation” in public affairs. The latest election campaign—which could not have been won without the clubs’ involvement—has awakened fresh reserves of social activism.

This bodes well for the future, just as the fact that, after the late Ryszard Kapuściński, the first president of the GP clubs, the helm has been taken by Ewa Wójcik, herself a member of that very generation. Ewa guarantees that two decades of experience will be paired with new energy.

Our community faces many important challenges, yet there is no doubt we are well prepared to meet them.
