German Defense Ministry’s Announcement: Patriot Air Defense System to be Withdrawn from Poland

The German defense ministry has announced that the Patriot air defense system stationed in Poland since January could be withdrawn as early as June. The final decision has not yet been made, but by the end of the year, the Patriot launchers will return to Germany from Slovakia for a technical overhaul. This gap in the air defense system on NATO’s eastern flank will certainly weaken the security of the entire alliance.
