After Russian drones entered Polish airspace, a majority of Germans fear that Russia will attack a NATO country—such as Poland or Lithuania—in the near future, according to a poll conducted by the INSA opinion research institute for “Bild am Sonntag.”
Germans highly concerned
According to the survey, as many as 62 percent of respondents fear such an attack. Twenty-eight percent do not share these concerns.
The DPA news agency reports that during Russia’s overnight air raid on Ukraine from Tuesday to Wednesday, a significant number of drones entered Polish airspace—and thus NATO airspace. For the first time, the Polish Air Force and other NATO allies shot down several Russian unmanned aircraft.
YES to sanctions
The INSA poll also shows that a majority of respondents support tightening economic measures against Russia. Forty-nine percent believe that all deliveries of gas and oil from Russia to the European Union should be halted immediately. Thirty-three percent favor continuing them, 11 percent have no opinion on the matter, and 7 percent are not interested.
According to the survey, 51 percent of respondents also support using frozen Russian assets in the EU to support Ukraine. Twenty-nine percent are opposed. The remainder had no opinion on the matter or were not familiar with the issue.
