Government spokesperson Adam Szłapka attacked the defense counsel of Zbigniew Ziobro, attorney Bartosz Lewandowski, suggesting that the lawyer cooperates with Russia. “Accusing us of being pro-Russian can only come from a government spokesperson notorious for lies, manipulation, and slander,” Lewandowski replied, announcing that he would pursue legal action. The list of those to be served with a lawsuit also included, at his own request, MP Witold Zembaczyński.
The case of Zbigniew Ziobro and the prosecutor’s motion for his pre-trial detention once again brought attorney Bartosz Lewandowski into the spotlight. Ziobro’s defense counsel defended his client’s position not only in court but also by providing substantive answers to media questions. As it turned out, for the ruling camp, whose aim is to put Ziobro behind bars, this was too much.
Government Spokesperson Attacks Ziobro’s Defense Counsel
Government spokesperson Adam Szłapka attacked Bartosz Lewandowski and the law firm he co-runs, suggesting… pro-Russian sympathies.
“A list of law firms intended for Russian citizens in Poland was compiled by Moscow after the barbaric attack on Ukraine. It includes ‘KHANZADYAN LEWANDOWSKI & PARTNERS.’ The same firm is now defending Ziobro. Everyone can draw their own conclusions,”
Szłapka wrote.
“You will end up in court over this post,” attorney Bartosz Lewandowski replied. He added that the embassy, without the firm’s request or knowledge, had posted on its website information about places where lawyers provide legal assistance in Russian, which is why the firm co-run by Lewandowski appeared there.
“In the overwhelming majority of cases, our clients come to us from Ukraine,”
the attorney wrote.
“When you and your colleagues were ‘clowning around’ at the border, disrupting the work of Polish services during a hybrid war, I took a family of five from Ukraine into my home. Incidentally, my work in 2023 was recognized with a medal by the Association of Ukrainian Lawyers. So, accusing us of pro-Russian sympathies can only be done by a government spokesperson known for lies, manipulation, and slander. But you will be able to prove your lies in court, so please keep an eye on your mail,”
he announced.
“See You in Court”
Witold Zembaczyński also joined the attack on attorney Lewandowski. “A Putinist spy with a green jabot,” wrote the politician from Donald Tusk’s party. The entire action appears coordinated, as Lewandowski himself noted.
“In a normal reality, Messrs. Szłapka and Zembaczyński would be expelled from the party, and their positions and their political careers would be over. Such boorishness and accusations pulled out of thin air are not tolerated in a civilized country,” journalist Jakub Pilarek responded to the PO politicians. Lewandowski himself had earlier added briefly: “See you in court.”
