On January 31, the International Book Exhibition, a major event of its kind in the Far East, will be launched in Taipei, Taiwan. Poland will be attending as a guest of honour, giving them the chance to showcase not only their literature but also their culture.

“Press conference with IAM Director Barbara Schabowska before tomorrow’s grand opening of the Taipei International Book Exhibition. For the first time, Poland will be the Exhibition’s guest of honour. The organizer of the Polish booth is IAM,”

Adam Mickiewicz Institute wrote on Twitter yesterday.

Those who go to the Polish pavilion will be given the opportunity to view a show dedicated to Polish kids’ illustration, entitled “Captains of Illustrations from Poland,” put together by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and supervised by Professor Jacek Friedrich.

On January 31, the International Book Exhibition will kick off in Taipei, Taiwan, with Poland taking part as a special guest. This important event in the Far East will last until February 5 and will be an opportunity to promote Polish literature and culture. It is being organized by the Book Institute, Polish Office in Taipei, Adam Mickiewicz Institute, National Library, Pilecki Institute, and the International Cultural Center.

The Book Institute from Poland is striving to make Polish literature more accessible by displaying it at the International Book Exhibition in Taipei. This will provide a long-term, visible presence of Polish books in areas where they have been either hard to find or inadequately available.

Poland is the Guest of Honor country of the 2023 Taipei International Book Exhibition, the largest book fair in Asia, organized by the Taipei Book Fair Foundation in collaboration with the Polish Book Institute and the Polish Office in Taipei. The country pavilion of Poland in TiBE proudly features the silhouette of interwoven traditional Polish floral patterns in red, the national colour of Poland, blending design elements from modern and old fashions. Readers and all visitors alike will discover Poland in a new foreign light. (tibe.org.tw)

The project was co-financed by funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage within the framework of the task “Poland as Guest of Honor at the TIBE 2023 International Book Exhibition in Taipei.”
