Karol Nawrocki’s daughter has been subjected to a vile wave of online hate from supporters of Rafał Trzaskowski, who sought to vent their frustration over Vice-Tusk’s electoral defeat in this way. “They are just children! People, leave the children alone! Hands off the children!” commented former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on TV Republika. He also recalled a moment from his visit to the Vatican.
During the election night, Karol Nawrocki’s seven-year-old daughter drew the attention of internet users due to her behavior during her father’s speech. The child whispered to her mother, made playful gestures, and engaged in eye contact with people around the stage.
This became a pretext for Rafał Trzaskowski’s supporters—reeling from his defeat—to unleash a coordinated and disgusting hate campaign against the girl. Many public figures came to Kasia’s defense, including her mother, who also spoke out.
Marta Nawrocka, wife of the president-elect, appealed on social media: “Let’s pause for a moment and reflect on how deeply words can hurt.” She also directed a plea to online users:
“Every child deserves to grow up in a world full of love and acceptance. I therefore appeal to you: let’s protect the youngest and allow them to enjoy the most beautiful moments of their lives.”
Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also commented on the matter:
“The state is completely blind to this, because it applies double standards: one for the elites, the Warsaw notables, the aristocracy on whose behalf Trzaskowski was supposed to become president—and a completely different standard for others, like now in the case of this little girl,”
he said on TV Republika.
He also recalled a moment from his visit to the Vatican:
“I remember visiting the Holy Father, Pope Francis, with my daughter—she too behaved very spontaneously, not at all in accordance with Vatican protocol. But they’re just children! People, leave the children alone! Hands off the children!” he appealed, adding:
“The Polish state should safeguard the peace of children, and I see no reaction whatsoever from either Bodnar or Tusk—this is deeply saddening.”
