The Witold Pilecki Institute of Solidarity and Valor (IP) announced on Thursday that, under an agreement reached with the Institute, Hanna Radziejowska and Mateusz Fałkowski are being reinstated at the Berlin branch.
As noted in a post published on the Pilecki Institute’s social media, Hanna Radziejowska will take the position of the Director’s Plenipotentiary for Polish-German Dialogue, while Mateusz Fałkowski will return as Deputy Head.
“Karol Madaj, Acting Director of the Pilecki Institute, expressed appreciation for the achievements, professionalism, and extraordinary commitment of the reinstated staff members and the team they led at the Institute’s Berlin branch. By signing the agreement, Director Madaj emphasized that the continuation of their mission – in Radziejowska’s case in a slightly modified role – is fully justified. He also expressed his conviction that the solution reached will enable the effective fulfillment of the Institute’s statutory goals and help bring an end to unnecessary disputes surrounding the Institute,” the statement read.
At the same time, the Director of IP announced that a competition for the position of Head of the Pilecki Institute’s Berlin branch will soon be opened. Until its conclusion, Joanna Kiliszek, Acting Head of the Berlin branch, will remain in the role.
On August 14, then-Director of the Pilecki Institute, Prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz, dismissed Hanna Radziejowska from her position as Head of the Berlin branch of IP. He justified the decision by stating that “her recent actions had seriously undermined the employer’s trust.” Her deputy, Mateusz Fałkowski, was also dismissed.
