Hearing of Zbigniew Ziobro before Sroka’s Commission

At exactly 12:00, the hearing of the illegally operating parliamentary investigative Pegasus commission began in the Sejm.

Shortly before 10:30, a plane carrying Zbigniew Ziobro landed at Chopin Airport in Warsaw. Representatives of the services were visible in the arrivals hall. On the tarmac, a police car and officers could be seen. Zbigniew Ziobro was detained while disembarking from the plane.

Just after 12:00, following a break, the session of the illegally operating Pegasus commission resumed. During the meeting of MPs, Zbigniew Ziobro was to be questioned.

Before the oath was administered to the witness, the commission began by recalling an interview given by the then Minister of Justice.

“The investigative commission exists and is doing well, Roman Giertych was right, and the Pegasus system is not a winged horse,” commented the chair, Magdalena Sroka.

As a witness, Ziobro asked to be allowed to make a statement. “I am not asking for a free statement, only for the right to which I am entitled. Every witness appearing before it may request to make a statement on a matter of significant legal interest for the record. I understand, madam, that you are not a lawyer, but please ask your advisers whether I am entitled to this right,” he stressed.

He also filed a motion to exclude MPs taking part in the commission. In the end, a vote was held on excluding Chair Sroka from the proceedings. The members sided with her.

After this vote, Ziobro delivered a free statement.
