Historic charity stream: Łatwogang raises over PLN 251 million for children with cancer

The charity fundraiser organized by influencer Łatwogang (Piotr Garkowski) for children battling cancer has concluded, with a result that seemed unimaginable just days ago: over PLN 251 million (≈ USD 69 million or EUR 60 million) has been raised. All proceeds will go to the Cancer Fighters Foundation. The livestream ended on Sunday at 9:37 PM.

Finale Delayed Several Times

In its final phase, the stream attracted more than 1.4 million concurrent viewers. The initiative set a world record for the highest amount ever raised during a charity livestream. Initially scheduled to end at 4:00 PM, the event was first extended to 8:00 PM and then further to 9:37 PM due to overwhelming interest.

The fundraiser took place on YouTube as a so-called “long stream,” a continuous broadcast lasting nine days. It began on April 17. During that time, Łatwogang hosted numerous well-known figures – some joined remotely, while others appeared in person at his apartment in Warsaw’s Praga district.

Celebrities in a Small Praga Apartment

The initiative drew participation from prominent figures across various fields, including Doda, Robert Lewandowski, Adam Małysz, Cezary Pazura, Roksana Węgiel, Magda Gessler, Peja, and Borys Szyc, among others. Some celebrities, such as Edyta Pazura, Katarzyna Nosowska, and Blanka Lipińska, chose to shave their heads in solidarity with the children battling cancer. Donations were also made by, among others, Dawid Podsiadło, Książulo, and OKI.

The direct inspiration for the initiative was the song Ciągle tutaj jestem (diss na raka) (eng. I’m still here (diss track against cancer), recorded by Bedoes together with Maja Mecan, a beneficiary of the foundation.

Will the Fundraiser Become a Recurring Event?

After the fundraiser concluded, its creator, Piotr Garkowski, informally announced that the initiative should continue. He initially suggested that it could be held annually, on April 26.

The Cancer Fighters Foundation operates across Poland, supporting people with cancer, children, adolescents, and adults, as well as their families. It provides not only financial aid but also medical and psychological support, along with motivational initiatives that emphasize hope and resilience in the fight against the disease.
