Szymon Hołownia has announced that should the Supreme Court uphold the election results, he will convene the National Assembly on 6 August 2025 to administer the presidential oath to Karol Nawrocki.
“In a democracy, the will of the voters is sacred.”
The Speaker of the Sejm and former presidential candidate addressed attempts to challenge the presidential election results. Writing on platform X, he noted that every protest deserves consideration but emphasized that, at present, nothing indicates the outcome announced by the National Electoral Commission should be questioned.
Hołownia stated that if the Supreme Court confirms the validity of the election, he will summon the National Assembly for 6 August 2025 to accept Karol Nawrocki’s presidential oath.
In his post, Hołownia did not point to any specific irregularities; he merely reminded readers that the Supreme Court is responsible for the final decision. His declaration to convene the National Assembly and receive the oath from the newly elected president sends a clear signal that the Speaker intends to honour the citizens’ verdict, despite his earlier reservations toward Karol Nawrocki.
