Although George Clooney looked impeccably stylish as ever alongside his wife Amal on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, just a few days before the gala the actor found himself thinking back to… Poland. In an interview with W Magazine, the star, with his trademark distance and sense of humor, spoke about last year’s visit which – as he admitted – stayed with him for a rather unexpected reason.
Clooney confessed that at first he could not even immediately remember exactly where he had been.
“Where was I…? A few weeks ago I flew to Poland for work, to give a speech,” he said. As he added, the time spent at the hotel turned out to be a bigger challenge than the journey itself. The actor lamented that the selection of English-language television programs was extremely limited. “The only thing that was in English on TV was a show called Below Deck. I was stuck in Poland waiting for that speech, so I watched about four hours of Below Deck,” he recounted with amusement. The anecdote was quickly picked up by the media and fans alike, as Hollywood stars rarely speak so unpretentiously about their foreign trips.
Let us recall that George Clooney visited Poland in October, when he appeared at the Freedom Games in Łódź.
Although Clooney joked about the hotel television and being “stuck” while waiting for his appearance, Poland clearly left a lasting mark on his memories – even if mainly thanks to… four hours of Below Deck.
