    Iga Swiatek Bows Out of WTA Cincinnati Semis After Defeat to Coco Gauff

    Iga Swiatek’s dominant streak against Cori Gauff came to an end as she lost a hard-fought match in the WTA series tournament in Cincinnati. The Polish tennis player fell to Coco Gauff with a final score of 6:7(2), 6:3, 4:6, marking her first defeat against the American in their eighth encounter.

    In a match characterized by frequent breaks of serve, both players showcased their competitive spirit. Swiatek secured a 4:2 lead in the first set, only to be met with a swift response from Gauff. After a series of breaks, the set was tied at 5:5, leading to a tie-break where Swiatek struggled with unforced errors, costing her the set.

    Swiatek managed to rebound in the second set, breaking Gauff early to secure a 2:1 lead. She added another break towards the end, visibly frustrating her opponent. 

    The third set saw both players holding their serves until the seventh game when Gauff seized a crucial break point. Despite Swiatek’s efforts, she was unable to recover from the deficit, ultimately losing the match 4:6 in the third set.
