Iga Świątek Cruises into French Open Quarterfinals with Perfect Win

Iga Świątek dismantled Anastasia Potapova with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 victory, earning her place in the quarterfinals of the French Open. This match of the Grand Slam turned out to be Świątek’s easiest and shortest, lasting a mere 40 minutes while she yielded just 10 points.

Potapova managed to secure only ten points in total, half of which came in the first three games when she still had a glimmer of hope. However, as Świątek accumulated points, Potapova’s game crumbled rapidly. After reaching a 3-0 and 15-15 start in the first set, Świątek went on a remarkable run, winning 18 consecutive points, which equates to four and a half games.

Potapova’s next point came when she was down 0-1 and 0-40 in the second set, but she couldn’t stave off further losses. Świątek’s performance was impeccable, featuring powerful serves and dominant rallies, which pushed Potapova to reach for an unattainable level. Struggling immensely, Potapova committed 19 unforced errors across 12 games and had a first serve success rate below 40%. Her mounting mistakes affected her mentally, leading to a complete collapse of her game.

With this victory, Świątek now sets her sights on the quarterfinals, where she will face the fifth-seeded Marketa Vondrousova.
