Indictment Filed Against the Founder of the Border Defense Movement. Bąkiewicz: This Is a Distortion of Reality

“The evidence gathered by the prosecution does not in any way substantiate these political claims,” said Robert Bąkiewicz, commenting on the indictment filed against him with the court. The initiator of the Border Defense Movement has no doubt that the actions of the prosecution are intended to mislead the Polish public.

On Wednesday, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gorzów Wielkopolski filed an indictment against Robert Bąkiewicz, the initiator of the Border Defense Movement. He is accused of insulting officers of the Border Guard and the Military Gendarmerie, an incident that allegedly occurred in late June 2025 on the bridge in Słubice.

Bąkiewicz commented on the prosecution’s actions on Friday on the air of Telewizja Republika. “The evidence—collected by the prosecution—does not confirm these political theses at all,” he emphasized.

As he explained, the prosecution claims that he called Border Guard officers traitors. “The officers do not confirm this; the entire material that was recorded from that event does not confirm it—no such words were used there,” he said.

“Apparently, however, Mr. Żurek and his associates are not bothered by the lack of evidence. A certain media ‘fact’ is being created,” he stressed.

According to Bąkiewicz, if we witness a crime, we should respond to it. “In my assessment, based on the material that has been gathered, it can be unequivocally stated that migrants were dropped off there by Germany, and that Polish officers were carrying out political actions—that is, they accepted migrants who should not have ended up in Poland,” he said.

“I had the right to react to the fact that something improper was happening—something that significantly undermines the security of the Polish state,” he emphasized.

He also noted that the prosecutors bringing charges against him see the matter differently. “The prosecution claims that these people were on Polish territory, but there […] German vans brought these people—Afghans, in this case. The Afghans themselves said they had been in some migrant camp in Germany. And our services said something entirely different—that these people should be on Polish territory,” he recounted.

“This is a distortion of reality,” he said.

In his view, anyone who looks closely at these actions can draw conclusions about how disinformation is carried out. “Poles are supposed to be convinced that the Border Defense Movement and Robert Bąkiewicz committed crimes, rather than exposing crimes and preventing them. Even the very introduction of border controls by Donald Tusk’s government confirms our thesis that Germany was transferring these migrants to Poland,” he emphasized.
