Indictment Filed for Insulting the President of Poland

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Radomsko has filed an indictment with the Regional Court in Piotrków Trybunalski against a man accused of insulting Polish President Karol Nawrocki on social media. He faces up to three years in prison.

On Friday, prosecutor Łukasz Ociepa, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Piotrków Trybunalski, announced that the indictment had been submitted to the court.

“On June 30, 2026, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Radomsko filed an indictment with the Regional Court in Piotrków Trybunalski against a man suspected of insulting the President of the Republic of Poland through mass communication by means of a social media platform,” the prosecutor’s spokesperson wrote in a statement published on the website of the District Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutor Łukasz Ociepa explained that the suspect had intentionally published content which, in the context of the manner in which it was expressed and combined with an accompanying graphic, was deemed to demean both the person holding the office of the President of Poland and his wife.

“The decision to file the indictment was based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, including the opinion of a court-appointed expert in forensic linguistics,” prosecutor Ociepa said.
