Law and Justice (PiS) is preparing for a pre-campaign ahead of the 2027 parliamentary elections. Online speculation is growing bolder about who could become the party’s candidate for future prime minister. Przemysław Czarnek admitted, “the announcement probably won’t come tomorrow. As I see it, it will be in the spring…“.
Although the parliamentary elections, according to the electoral calendar, are set to take place in autumn 2027, behind the scenes of the largest opposition party the search for a future prime ministerial candidate is reportedly beginning.
According to media reports, certain qualities are being discussed within Law and Justice (PiS) as desirable for a potential future head of government. One of the selection criteria is said to be age – under 50. In this context, there is also a theory that it should be someone who “will repeat the success of Karol Nawrocki” – the current President of the Republic of Poland, even though he was not a party member.

Asked on RMF FM about how the search for the “future prime minister” is progressing, Przemysław Czarnek said:
“I think this is also the intention of our party leadership, especially the party leader, to put forward one leader and run a very strong pre-election campaign behind him, followed by the election campaign itself. It’s a good idea,” he assessed.
When asked about specific names (Morawiecki, Bocheński, Bogucki, Jaki, and Czarnek are mentioned online), he said: “Mateusz Morawiecki is an excellent politician with great experience, but as we’ve heard, the criteria are that the person should be under 50. I barely qualify. But if we look at the possible autumn 2027 elections, I’ll already be over 50. Unless there are snap elections this year, then I might still make it at the last minute.“
He continued: “And that’s probably some kind of problem, because there may certainly be some difficulties here given that the president is certainly pleased with Minister Bogucki, because he performs this function very well, but we’ll see.“
He also elaborated on the timeline for when PiS will announce its candidate. “The announcement probably won’t come tomorrow. As I see it, it will be in the spring, but that really is still an undefined matter,” Czarnek said.
