Is the Government Disarming Poland by Secretly Sending Its Most Valuable Weapons to Ukraine?

“We have deeply alarming information that the government secretly sent Patriot missiles to Ukraine without informing parliament, even though we desperately need them for our air defense system! If this is true, it is a scandal!” said Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak.

“If reports that PAC-3 MSE interceptors have been transferred to Ukraine are confirmed, we will be dealing with a gigantic scandal,” added Mariusz Błaszczak, former Minister of National Defence.

“If the government has indeed decided to transfer them abroad while simultaneously warning of possible Russian provocations and threats to Poland’s security, it would amount to conduct that is completely at odds with the authorities’ fundamental duty – ensuring the safety of their own citizens,” Błaszczak commented on the reports.

The former defense minister recalled that PAC-3 MSE missiles are interceptors used in the Patriot air defense system, designed to destroy ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and aerial targets.

“They are the most valuable component of Poland’s air defense system, whose actual development began during the rule of the Law and Justice (PiS) government,” he stressed.

Earlier, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak also commented on the matter:

“It appears that in March, without informing the Sejm, the government secretly handed over expensive and difficult-to-obtain Patriot interceptor missiles to Ukraine. They had been purchased by Poland from the United States to build the layered air defense system that you have been hearing about in the media for years, but which has still not been completed. These were the only missiles possessed by Poland capable of intercepting Russian Iskander missiles threatening Poland and deployed in the Kaliningrad Oblast,” the politician wrote on X.
