Jakubiak on Radio Republika: “If Trzaskowski Wins, There Will Be No Poland”

Presidential candidate Marek Jakubiak appeared on Radio Republika following the televised presidential debate hosted by the soon-to-be-dissolved TVP. During the interview, he did not hold back his criticism of the ruling party’s candidate, Rafał Trzaskowski.

Poland or the Interests of Berlin and Paris

Speaking with the station’s journalists, Jakubiak admitted that he was still feeling the emotional charge from the debate. He emphasized that the stakes were not just about media hype but about the very future of the country. His warning was blunt:

— “What happens on Sunday is a decision about whether Poland will continue to exist or not. People don’t realize the gravity of this,” Jakubiak declared.

The candidate pointed out that the debate’s organization had been outsourced to external companies—a move he interpreted as an attempt to soften the tone and limit the influence of TVP:

— “I must say that Polish Television seems to have stepped back from its usual aggressive stance by hiring outside firms. Everyone who approached me kept saying, ‘Mr. Jakubiak, I don’t work for the station—I’m with a subcontractor,’” he explained.

Jakubiak questioned whether the Civic Platform candidate had the personal qualities needed to lead the nation:

— “You could clearly see it—he looked tired. Ladies and gentlemen, the man’s personality profile is that of a bureaucrat, a typical bureaucrat,” he said with a note of sarcasm.

In Jakubiak’s view, the debate highlighted not only the condition of public media but also the direction of the entire campaign. He remains convinced: the upcoming election will be decisive for Poland’s future.

— “If I have to choose anyone, I choose Poland—not the interests of Germany and France,” he concluded.
