Jarosław Kaczyński, the President of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, disclosed that the 14th pension for the year 2023 will see a significant increase to PLN 2200 net.
The 14th pension, introduced in 2021, is a benefit bestowed upon pensioners on an annual basis. In a speech delivered in Paradyż, Łódzkie Voivodeship, Deputy Prime Minister Kaczyński affirmed that this additional payment will now become a permanent fixture, thanks to a law signed by President Andrzej Duda on July 19th of this year. The legislation guarantees the benefit’s continuity and regularity, providing pensioners with a predictable source of income to enhance their financial stability.
Under the new plan, eligible pensioners will automatically receive the 14th pension, eliminating the need for any application process. This streamlining of the payment procedure aims to simplify access to the benefit and ensure that deserving individuals do not encounter unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles.
The President clarified that the 14th pension will be disbursed on the same dates as regular pensions, aligning their distribution with the existing pension schedule. This synchronization ensures a sense of consistency for recipients and minimizes confusion.
The decision to raise the 14th pension from the previously discussed amount of PLN 1558.44 gross (PLN 1445 net) to the current PLN 2200 net signifies the government’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of the elderly population. It also acknowledges the challenges that retirees often face, especially in times of rising costs and economic uncertainty.
