A journalist from TV Republika who was assaulted by the security of Rafał Trzaskowski has been hospitalized. A forensic examination was performed, and the results clearly indicate that Janusz Życzkowski sustained significant bodily harm lasting more than seven days. According to legal provisions, such a result qualifies the act as a criminal offence, and the matter should be prosecuted ex officio.
On Thursday, Rafał Trzaskowski visited the town of Wieluń. After a meeting with his supporters, he was asked a difficult question by journalist Janusz Życzkowski from TV Republika. The journalist did not receive an answer; instead, he was attacked by the politician’s security guards.
“I was struck in the torso and pushed. My equipment fell to the ground and was destroyed. I also lost my glasses,”
Życzkowski reported.
On Friday, it was announced that Życzkowski’s condition had deteriorated, and he required medical attention.
“Our journalist Janusz Życzkowski, who was beaten yesterday by Trzaskowski’s security, felt worse and was taken to the hospital,”
said Tomasz Sakiewicz, President of TV Republika.
Forensic Examination Results Revealed
Due to the deterioration in Janusz Życzkowski’s health, a forensic examination was ordered. As reported today by the portal tvrepublika.pl, the results confirmed health impairment lasting over seven days. According to legal provisions, such a result qualifies the act as a criminal offence, and the matter should be prosecuted ex officio.
“Cervical spine torsion accompanied by a post-traumatic pain syndrome affecting the cervical and thoracic regions. The above injuries resulted from the described events (…). They are the consequence of impact with a blunt and blunt-edged instrument. These injuries (…) caused a disruption to the state of health,”
reads the opinion of the court-appointed medical expert, accessed by tvrepublika.pl.
The portal also contacted Janusz Życzkowski for comment.
“I am still trying to recover, both mentally and physically. I did nothing to anyone. I merely wanted to ask a question, as previously agreed with the campaign team representatives. Instead, I was treated brutally. Freedom of speech and the right to ask questions are priceless,”
he stated.
