Polish PiS leader Kaczyński supports Trump’s victory, anticipating positive implications for Polish right-wing parties in future elections.
PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński expressed satisfaction with Donald Trump’s anticipated win in the U.S. presidential election, viewing it as a positive sign for Polish right-wing ambitions. Speaking to journalists in the Polish Parliament, Kaczyński stated, “I am very pleased with this victory.” He acknowledged, however, that U.S. policy direction would only become clear once Trump’s actions, not just words, materialize.
Trump’s Win and Polish Politics
Kaczyński’s comments reflected his belief that Trump’s victory could bolster the Polish right in future elections. Citing differences in vision between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his PiS party, Kaczyński criticized Tusk’s support for what he described as a “German-Russian strategy” for Europe, which Kaczyński deems harmful for Poland’s interests.
Ukraine and Foreign Relations
Asked about Trump’s potential approach to Ukraine, Kaczyński denied any expectation that Trump would “give Ukraine to Putin,” expressing hope that the new U.S. administration would work toward peace while respecting Ukraine’s rights.
