Kaczyński sharply on the plan to arrest Ziobro: “This is something like an attempted murder!”

“For merely submitting the request for his arrest, these people should be brought before the court and held seriously accountable. This is something like an attempted murder,” said Jarosław Kaczyński in the Sejm, referring to what Donald Tusk’s and Waldemar Żurek’s team is doing to Zbigniew Ziobro.

Tomorrow, the Sejm Committee on Rules, Deputies’ Affairs, and Immunities will debate the National Prosecutor’s Office’s (PK) request to lift the immunity of MP Zbigniew Ziobro and to authorize his detention and temporary arrest. Meanwhile, on Friday evening, the Sejm will vote on the matter.

The case concerns the request of the Minister of Justice, Waldemar Żurek, submitted to the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, to hold the former minister accountable.

Despite the set schedule, the prosecution under Żurek’s leadership seems to be growing impatient to such an extent that it does not intend to wait for the outcome of Friday’s vote. According to Niezalezna.pl, Ziobro, who is currently abroad, is to be detained immediately upon his return – most likely right after landing on Polish soil.

Is Ziobro’s health deteriorating?

This morning, Super Express published an article quoting a “friend of Zbigniew Ziobro.” The source told the paper that the former Minister of Justice’s health had worsened recently.

It should be recalled that at the end of 2024, the politician learned that he had cancer. Since then, he has undergone several surgeries in Belgium: resection of the esophagus and stomach, dilation of the stomach, and dilation of the esophagus. Moreover, his treatment has included chemotherapy and radiotherapy. “On November 12, Zbigniew Ziobro has a scheduled hospital visit in Brussels for additional tests and verification of his worsening blood results. In addition, Zbyszek has lost some weight, which also worries him,” SE quoted its source as saying.

In recent days, opposition politicians have warned that any potential arrest of Ziobro could result in the darkest possible scenario. Today in the Sejm, PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński was asked about it. “This is something like an attempted murder,” he said.

Speaking to journalists, the politician stated that “the prosecution at this point is an organization that, I hope, will be thoroughly, very thoroughly examined.” When asked, “Why do you think Ziobro’s life is in danger?” the PiS chairman replied, “Because he is very seriously ill.”

“For merely submitting the request for his arrest, these people should be brought before the court and held seriously accountable. This is something like an attempted murder. I’m not saying it is an attempt, but it’s an action of that nature,” he said.
